The World Health Summit (WHS) Regional Meeting 2025 opened at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi—marking the first time this global platform was hosted in India. Organised by the National Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS University), a member of the WHS Academic Alliance, in collaboration with Ashoka University and the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, the summit saw record-breaking participation, with over 4,500 registrants from more than 54 countries, including over 1,000 leading health experts, scientists, ministers, and policymakers.
Held under the theme “Scaling Access to Ensure Health Equity”, the event explored innovative, inclusive, and sustainable approaches to achieving health for all.
Ashoka University played an active role across multiple sessions over the three days. Faculty from its Trivedi School of Biosciences and Koita Centre for Digital Health at Ashoka University (KCDH-A) led a key panel on Digital Health and Scaling Access to AI-Powered Diagnostics, underscoring the value of academic research in developing pragmatic, evidence-based health solutions. The University also involved its students and early-career researchers as volunteers and rapporteurs, providing them with firsthand exposure to high-level health diplomacy and international collaboration.
As the summit progressed, discussions turned to topics such as traditional medicines, gender-responsive health systems, and the future of global health partnerships. With strong representation from South Asia and beyond, the WHS Regional Meeting 2025 made a lasting contribution to the global dialogue on health equity.
